Building resilience and facing change: Oikocredit supports its partners through turbulent times

Over the past years, several of the regions where Oikocredit works with partners have experienced natural disasters or political upheaval. How do partners bounce back after such events and how does Oikocredit help them to increase their capacity to respond and adapt?

This edition features our work in Ukraine during the country’s period of political conflict, in Ecuador, after an earthquake devastated a cocoa-producing region and a study tour of the Philippines where investors witnessed our disaster management programme in action. It also presents a message for 2017 from Ging Ledesma, Oikocredit’s interim managing director.

Ecuador: Rebuilding and refinancing cocoa producers

Following last April’s 7.8 magnitude earthquake, two of Oikocredit’s cocoa-producing partners were faced with damaged crops, warehouses and homes. Oikocredit teamed up with other organizations to provide support.
