Financial inclusion beyond microfinance

In this newsletter, we look at how Oikocredit is widening its engagement beyond microfinance in the financial inclusion sector, as shared in the recent strategy update by our managing director, Thos Gieskes. Examples include directly financing small to medium entreprises (SMEs) and the rapidly growing fintech sector. 

First we look at fintech in the interview with the CEO of our Indian partner NeoGrowth, to find out how fintech is being applied to social impact investing in India. We then travel to Mexico to find out more about Oikocredit Mexico’s rapidly growing SME portfolio and its impact.

This edition rounds off with an interview with our Director of Finance, Irene van Oostwaard who updates us on some key financial topics and reminds us of the importance of maintaining the right balance between our financial results and our social performance.
