About us

Who We Are

Initiated by the World Council of Churches (WCC) in 1975, and headquartered in the Netherlands, Oikocredit is an international co-operative and social impact investor. Our co-operative member-shareholders are largely faith-based institutions, and we raise capital from these members as well as individuals and organisations across Europe and North America. We invest this capital in social enterprises that generate a positive financial, social and environmental return in low-income and developing countries.

What We Do

Your capital is invested in many areas that the UN's Agenda for Sustainable Development seeks to address, while targeting a balanced financial, social and environmental return on your investment. We invest in enterprises that are active in inclusive finance, smallholder agriculture and affordable, renewable energy. We place particular emphasis on supporting women, rural and underserved communities.
